The creators of this book searched the Kalahari thirstlands to find the few remaining Bushmen who still lived as their forefathers had done for the past 20,000 years. Their quest led them to a people who had never tried to conquer their environment, but had instead remained an integral part of it.

About the Authors

Peter Johnson left a career in marketing to devote his energies to wildlife photography and has spent his life photographing all that is still unspoilt in Africa - its wildlife, its wilderness and its people.

Anthony Bannister has been observing and photographing African insects for almost 20 years. A detemination to photograph his subjects living freely in their natural habitat, and not simply as posed or pinned specimens, made it necessary for him to develop special techniques and equipment. He gave up a career in electronics research and turned to photography full-time, and spends his days photographing all that is still unspoilt in Africa - its wildlife, its wilderness and its people. His work appears in natural history publications throughout the world.

Alf Wannenburgh has been a journalist and writer for most of his adult life. Earlier years spent diamond digging in the Namib Desert and working on mining prospects in Namibia stimulated a wide interest in southern Africa and its peoples. This, added to an academic background in social anthropology and African history, led to the writing and publication of several books.
